Key Accounts Director

Octagon is a high growth entrepreneurial company that is looking for a polished, professional, highly motivated Business Development Rep, capable of establishing and managing executive level relationships with prospective biopharmaceutical clients. We provide services and software to optimize the clinical R&D process in the bio-pharmaceutical industry from data collection to submission. Therefore, the BD Rep must have experience selling into BioPharma and proven ability to generate new and repeat business for all business lines.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director within our Business Development Department, the Director’s key functions include the following:

  • Responsible for all steps of sales process from cold call through close, including demos, presentations, RFPs, pitch and hard close
  • Identification and prospecting of new business leads, including qualification and needs assessments
  • Cultivate new relationships with Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical professionals within companies of numerous sizes
  • Facilitatation of team sales (i.e. coordinate the preparation, meeting, follow-up)

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Four year degree.
  • Between 5 –10 years experience in an outside sales environment with a proven track record
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in “solution-selling” role, selling into Biotech and Pharmaceutical sector (preferably clinical R&D and/or regulatory related services)
  • Experience selling in this territory with contacts
  • Hunter mentality with strong sense of urgency and persistence
  • Strong sales and relationship building skills with proven ability to work with CXO-level executives
  • Willingness to prospect relentlessly and strategically to drive strong activity
  • Ability to navigate through challenging sales cycles
  • Proven ability to work independently from home office and willingness to travel to client sites (up to 50%)
  • Must be extremely self motivated and a quick learner
